                                                              ArtBytes project

For several years now we have had an ongoing relationship with St Andrew’s School in Cobham. For the second year running we have sponsored them to participate in an art competition called ArtBytes, a national online educational programme open to Years 5 and 9. It gives young participants the opportunity to see their art exhibited online and to engage with new technology from the safety of their own school.

Earlier in the year we asked you to vote for a winner from the entries from St Andrew’s School, and that winner was Phoebe. On 17th June Phoebe, her family and teacher Amanda Eley went up to London for a presentation, at which I joined them. The children were given a guided tour of the National Gallery first, and then were awarded their certificates at the presentation in the church of St Martin in the Fields across the square. In the photo Phoebe is standing with teacher Amanda, and Phoebe’s painting is the green face behind them on the display. It was a very enjoyable day for all concerned.
